Our Work

Brigette’s deep commitments to equity and inclusive practice, along with her sophisticated facilitation skills and extensive knowledge about group dynamics and cultural competency, and a joyful sense of humor, led us to co-create learning opportunities for our staff – a majority of whom identify as people of color – to increase individual and collective capacity, advance a culture of learning, and intentionally build community. Brigette and her colleagues have helped us to remake how we show up in the world and with each other. She helped me, as a white woman leader, show up with more humility, empathy, resiliency, and courage.

As a long time friend of our organization, Brigette has consistently served as a valued resource, guide, facilitator and champion of Empower DC’s work. She has facilitated strategic planning, guided organizational development, and connected us with great opportunities. In addition to the role she has played for our organization, she is a guiding light for the whole of the social justice movement in DC – serving in critical leadership roles and lending her vast organizational development knowledge in ways that have propelled our local movement forward. She is a true asset to the cause of justice for all.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Brigette for nearly two decades-as a volunteer on a project she coordinated for a national nonprofit association, as a coworker, and, most recently, as a client of Rouson Associates. For the past few years, the Standards for Excellence Institute has been fortunate to have Brigette as a co-presenter on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Lens with Which We Do Our Work and Build Capacity in Nonprofits at our national Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultant Training Program. Always one of the top-rated segments of the three-day program, the session brings her vast expertise, participatory approach, and keen insights to this crucial learning experience.

Young Playwrights' Theater (YPT) had the honor of working with Brigette Rouson and Insight-Incite Consulting on a year-long transformational antiracism and strategic planning project that impacted every aspect of our work, staff and board culture, organizational structure and policies, and strategic direction. The work we did together not only created vital space for accountability, healing, learning, and change, it ensured that values of anti-oppression were central in our planning process and the framework we now use to make all of our organizational decisions. Brigette approaches her work from a place of authenticity and love, and YPT is a more resilient, just, and joyful organization because of our time with her.

Brigette brings so much more to her work than just excellent facilitating skills. Her deep grounding in social justice work transformed our team building workshop into an experience with lasting impact.
